Description
A horseback ride just a few kilometres from the centre of Rome

Explore the most famous of Roman roads on horseback: the Via Appia Antica. This experience will allow you to discover a large number of testimonies and monuments recounting the history of Republican and Imperial Rome, all in the middle of nature just a few kilometres from the centre of Rome.

First of all, the Baths of Caracalla, the Porta San Sebastiano and the Aurelian Wall, the tomb of Geta, the tomb of Priscilla, the area of the Imperial Palace and the Circus of Maxentius, the great tower mausoleum of Cecilia Metella, the Villa dei Quintilli, the great cylindrical tomb, also known as the Casal Rotondo, then the catacombs of San Callisto, Domitilla and San Sebastiano and finally the Basilica of Praetextatus.

In addition, numerous medieval, baroque and Renaissance churches line the route, such as Santa Maria in Palmis, better known as Quo vadis, as well as medieval towers and fortifications, often built on the ruins of Roman monuments.

Discover this exceptional site on horseback in complete safety, accompanied by an expert equestrian guide. This experience is also suitable for beginners! It’s an original activity with a strong sense of solidarity, with part of the proceeds going to a charity dedicated to horses and nature conservation.

Horseback ride along the famous Via Appia Antica

After a brief introduction to the riding centre, you will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the horses by taking care of them (feeding them, giving them water and looking after their stalls). Then your riding experience will begin with preparing your horse, cleaning him, putting a saddle and harness on him, before setting off for your ride!

Head for the fields to reach the Via Appia Antica, crossing a magnificent park rich in nature and archaeological monuments. Your equestrian guide will tell you all about the history of this ancient road linking the ancient centre of Rome to southern Italy!
